I tested 5 ways to fix Wink export issues on Android, here’s what worked (full guide linked)”
If you're here, you've probably been in the same frustrating situation I was — you spend time editing a video in Wink, hit export, and then... nothing. The video gets stuck at processing, saves as a blank file, or just disappears entirely.
I went through this myself and spent way too long reading scattered forum posts and outdated Reddit threads. So I decided to actually test the five most commonly recommended fixes — and document exactly what happened with each one.
Here's the full honest breakdown, ordered from simplest to most drastic.
The 5 Fixes — Tested & Reviewed
This is the first thing you should try, and it worked for me on the first attempt. Over time, Wink builds up corrupted temporary files that block the export process. Clearing the cache wipes those out without touching your saved projects in the gallery.
- Open your phone'sSettings
- Go toApps(or "App Management" on some phones)
- Find and tapWink
- TapStorage
- TapClear Cachefirst, then try exporting again
- If it still fails, tapClear Dataas well
This one catches a lot of people off guard. On Android 12 and above, apps can silently lose media access after a system update — and Wink won't warn you about it. It simply fails to save the file without any error message.
- Go toSettings → Apps → Wink
- TapPermissions
- TapFiles and Media(or "Photos and Videos")
- SelectAllow all the timeorAllow access to media only
- Reopen Wink and try exporting again
Video editing apps need temporary working space to render a video before saving it. If your internal storage is nearly full, Wink silently fails during export — no error, no warning, just nothing.
I moved a batch of photos to Google Photos, cleared some app caches, and freed up about 2 GB. After that, Wink exported without any issues.
- Go toSettings → Storageto check available space
- If under 1.5 GB free, delete unused apps, move photos to cloud storage, or clear other app caches
- Aim for at least2 GB freebefore exporting longer videos
If the app install itself is corrupted — which can happen after interrupted updates or storage errors — a fresh install usually clears it. This is a more drastic step, so do it only after trying the fixes above.
- First, check thePlay Storefor any pending Wink updates and install them
- If updating doesn't help, uninstall Wink completely from your phone
- Restart your phone
- Reinstall Wink fresh from theGoogle Play Store
This one is sneaky and easy to miss. On certain Android skins — especially MIUI (Xiaomi), One UI (Samsung), and ColorOS (OPPO/Realme) — aggressive battery optimization kills background processes mid-export. The video seems to be processing, then just vanishes.
- Go toSettings → Battery(or "Battery & Performance")
- FindBattery Optimizationor "App Battery Management"
- Search forWinkin the list
- Set it toDon't Optimize(or "No restrictions")
- On Xiaomi: also checkAutostartsettings and enable it for Wink
